Services
The Warren County Senior Center is a non-profit and charitable organization. We provide nutritious meals to elderly, homebound senior citizens but we also provide a tasty, hot lunch at our local Senior Center for our active clients. We also serve as a gathering place for senior citizens to come and meet each other and participate in daily activities.
Congregate Meals
Our Congregate meals are served at the Senior Center from 11:30am -12:30pm and include a main course, 2 sides, bread, dessert, and a drink (milk, iced tea, coffee, or lemonade). Guests are invited to come in, sit down, and eat their meal in the pleasant company of the rest of our congregate clients. The activities offered for our congregation include games such as: Bingo, exercise, crafts, parties, and horse races (see activity calendar for details. We also provide blood pressure checks for our congregation along with special presentations.
Home-Delivered Meals
Our Home-Delivered meal program is for the senior citizens who are unable to leave their homes or prepare meals for themselves. We provide these homebound seniors with a hot and nutritional meal every weekday. Each day we cook and package the meals for delivery by our volunteer drivers. The meals we provide contain a main course, 2 sides, bread, and milk. In addition to providing a hot meal daily for our clients, it also allows an opportunity for the elderly to be checked on.
Operation & Funding
Here at the Senior Center, we operate with a four person staff and our much appreciated volunteers. The Executive Director of the Center is Sheryl Stefanski, who is governed by a 9-member board. The Senior Center is under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging in Kirksville, Missouri and receives only partial funding through the government. Clients are asked to make a $5 contribution toward each meal (if they are able to do so). We do not deny a meal to anyone who is unable to contribute. The rest of our funding for our Home-Delivered and Congregate services is provided through fundraisers, as well as public and private donations.
